Day Canvas — one hike, one page

Trail Journal — your story over time

Settings — make it yours
A few settings worth knowing about, all tucked into one place.
Treadline greets you by your Trail Name, not your first name. Set your own nickname in Settings and it'll show up everywhere the app speaks to you.
Every AI feature — Tailored Insights, Journal Prompts, AI Coaching — has an off switch that still leaves the core journal fully intact. Turn it on if it's useful, leave it off if it's not for you.
Day Canvas share cards carry a small Treadline mark by default. Toggle it off in Settings any time you want a plain export instead.
Grouped so you can jump to what you need.
Treadline turns your hikes into a lasting record, not just a stats sheet. Every hike gets a Day Canvas, a single shareable summary that brings together your photos, stats, field notes, and sticky notes from that day. Over time, those hikes build into a Trail Journal and a Lifetime Atlas of everywhere you've been.
Hikers who already use apps like AllTrails, Gaia, or Apple Health to navigate. Treadline isn't trying to replace your routing app — it's the layer on top that turns a GPS track into a story you'll actually want to look back on.
No. Treadline works alongside the tools you already use. Import your hikes straight from Apple Health, and Treadline adds the journaling, photos, field notes, and long-term history on top.
Day Canvas is Treadline's signature feature — a single view per hike where your photos, stats, field notes, sticky notes, and any research links you saved beforehand all land in one place. When you're ready to share, it exports as a clean stat card, with Treadline branding on by default (see Settings above to turn it off).
Yes. You can share a hike or trip as a link, and anyone with the link can view it, no account needed on their end. Creating and ending the share is always your call, and you can turn off sharing for that link at any time from the app.
Treadline connects your personal hikes to named trail systems, starting with Shenandoah National Park. Instead of just a raw GPS track, your hike gets tied to the actual trail you were on, which is what powers Lifetime Atlas and trail-based challenges.
Structured goals you can work toward over time, like completing all the trails in a park system. They're a good way to have a concrete reason to get started today, even before you're using the deeper journaling features.
Yes. Most journaling features work offline — the app is built with an offline-first architecture, so you're not dependent on signal out on trail.
Your hikes, photos, and field notes are yours. Shared Day Canvas cards are the only thing that leaves the app, and only when you choose to share them.
Treadline keeps your journal on your device, not on a server. Sharing a trip or hike is the one exception: a copy of that plan is uploaded to a small plan-sharing service we run, just so the link works for whoever you send it to. It only exists because you chose to share it, and you're in control of turning it off whenever you want.
TrailCoach AI is Treadline's only AI feature, and it's available to Pro subscribers as something you turn on, not something that runs by default. When it's on, generating a report sends relevant details from that period to Anthropic's API through a secure proxy we operate, nothing is stored there, it's just forwarded and the response comes back to your device. When it's off, reports are built entirely on your device from your own stats and patterns, and no journal content or hike data ever leaves your phone.
Trail Journal, Lifetime Atlas, Day Canvas, Waypoints & Field Notes, Gear Closet, Live Weather, Apple Watch integration, and List Challenges are all part of the core app. Tailored Insights, Journal Prompts, and AI Coaching are part of the Pro tier for hikers who want a deeper, more reflective layer on top of their hiking history.
Treadline+ is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks Photo Post (branded photo cards), Hike Movie, Trail Flyover, On This Day, and Species ID, along with life lists, gear insights, unlimited challenges, map overlays, and GPX import/export.
Treadline+ is a one-time purchase that unlocks sharing, export, and deeper trail-history features. Pro is a separate subscription for the optional AI layer — Tailored Insights, Journal Prompts, and AI Coaching. You can pick up either one on its own, or both.
iOS and watchOS, from day one. The watchOS companion captures a full hike from your wrist, no phone required.
Treadline is the first app from Leading Ridge Solutions, a solo studio founded by a working naturalist and former operations leader. It's built around an actual hiking life in Shenandoah National Park, not a generic fitness-tracker pivot.
